Mental Health: The Department for Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services provides leadership, in partnership with others, to prevent disability, build resilience in individuals and their communities, and facilitate recovery for people whose lives have been affected by mental illness, mental retardation or other developmental disability, substance abuse or an acquired brain injury.

Protection
State Guardianship: Guardianship is a legal relationship between a court appointed party that assumes the responsibility of guardian and a ward being the individual that has been declared "legally disabled" by the court and is unable to care for personal needs and /or unable to manage his/her financial resources.

Assistance
Family Assistance: The Division of Family Support is responsible for the administering several programs including Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards/Food Stamps, Kentucky Temporary Assistance (KTAP), and Medicaid Programs.
Food Stamps: The Food Stamp Program helps people with little or no money buy enough food for healthy meals. It does this by providing people with food stamp benefits, which can be used to buy food at participating stores.
Medical Transportation: Provides non-emergency transportation through local brokers.
