Newsroom
The Public Policy Committee, under the direction of Lauri Knabel, has been very busy. The committee has developed a detailed work plan and already has completed two activities. It has reviewed and updated the Council Position Statements, which can be found on our website. In addition, the Public Policy Committee now has a clear policy on how to address legislative issues brought before the committee from both other council members and other partners in the community. The committee still has lots to accomplish and will continue to address the activities on their work plan.
We invite anyone interested in disability issues to sign on and become an advocate. From this site, you can
- Learn about upcoming advocacy events
- Participate in helping grassroots efforts to affect legislation
- Check pertinent legislation
- Make comments regarding the legislation
- Directly send messages to your Legislators
So sign on today and become a grassroots member and part of the DD advocacy group.

The council provided funds for this project. This 30-minute training video will show you an example of true systems change at a local level. Glenna and Kevin have been good advocates for the council and deserve our thanks for spreading the word about the wonderful things the council has helped accomplish through collaboration.
