CCSHCN receives two grant awards

The Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs has received two federal grants for the coming year.

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded the commission the KY Integrated Services for Children (KISC) and Youth with Special Health Care Needs grant. This is a $300,000-per-year grant which will be in effect for three years. The grant will support community partnership for transitions, medical homes and family to family with a special focus on the 18-21 population.

The Early Hearing Detection and Intervention program received a HRSA-MCHB grant for $300,000 per year that is renewable for up to two years. This grant will fund a team of parents and professionals as participants in the National Initiative for Children’s Health Care Quality (NICHQ). This will also include the KISC grant. NICHQ is an independent organization focusing on improving the system of health care for all children and strives to increase the quality of care children receive with an emphasis on increasing medical homes.

These grants will support the commission's mission to enhance the quality of life for Kentucky's children with special health care needs through direct service, leadership, education and collaboration.
