AmeriCorps Alums National Leadership Awards

As part of the national 20th Anniversary celebrations, AmeriCorps Alums, the national network that represents alumni from all AmeriCorps programs, honored 20 alumni from across the country.

These award winners are exceptional, chosen from a pool of hundreds nominees representing service in all 50 states, and from all 20 years of AmeriCorps service.  They are incredibly talented, proven and dedicated leaders – all of whom were “Made in AmeriCorps.”

Building on their experiences as AmeriCorps members, these award winners have gone on to build exceptional careers, and lives, of impact. They are living the AmeriCorps pledge to “get things done for America – their year of service and beyond.”

Kentucky is proud to be home to one of the national winners, Geraldine (Deenie) Espinoza. Deenie served 1994-95 with the Family Literacy AmeriCorps in AZ. Currently, she serves as Online Academic Advisor and Success Coach for The Learning House, Louisville.

Learn more about Deenie Espinoza on the AmeriCorps Alums website.

AmeriCorps Alums Local Leadership Awards

Each state also had the opportunity to honor alumni with local leader awards. The KCCVS believed this was a perfect chance to recognize alumni that have truly dedicated their lives to expanding and supporting AmeriCorps in Kentucky.

Kentucky's five local leadership award winners were honored at our ceremony at the KFC Yum! Center on Sept. 12, 2014.
