Volunteering at highest rate in 30 years
 

Volunteering has reached a 30-year high in the United States, according to a report from the Corporation for National and Community Service.

The report, Volunteer Growth in America: A Review of Trends Since 1974, finds that adult volunteering increased more than 32 percent during the last 16 years.

The estimated value of a volunteer’s time is $18.77 per hour, for 2006 according to the Independent Sector, an advocacy group for volunteers and community service groups.
