Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Surveys

Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) asks consumers and patients to report on and evaluate their experiences with health care.

CHIPRA section 402(a)(2) requires Title XXI Programs (i.e., CHIP Medicaid Expansion Programs, Separate Child Health Programs or a combination of the two) to report CAHPS results to CMS starting December 2013.

Reporting of the CAHPS Survey remains voluntary for Title XIX (Medicaid) Programs.
