Adult Preventive Program - Helping adult Kentuckians get healthy and stay healthy by offering preventive services such as physical exams and cancer screening through local health departments.

Arthritis Program - Do you need information on Arthritis? Early diagnosis and proper treatment can maximize the quality of life for most persons with arthritis.

Diabetes - Do you have questions about diabetes? The Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control program works to reduce the number of new cases of diabetes as well as the sickness, disability and death associated with diabetes and its complications.

Heart Disease and Stroke Program - Are you at risk for heart disease or stroke? Know the risk factors and warning signs.

Physical Activity Program - This statewide initiative promotes physical activity and helps community address their physical activity needs.

Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant - A variety of programs and services addressing the unique health needs of Kentuckians are funded through this grant.

Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program - This site offers valuable information about the dangers of tobacco use and helpful tips to break your addiction to tobacco. Information also is available about therapies to help you quit. This program also sponsors Kentucky's QuitLine (1-800-QUIT NOW).

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality now provides two new evidence-based checklists to help men and women understand which medical tests and screenings they need to stay healthy at any age. The men's and women's versions of Your Checklist for Health list the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommendations for screening tests, preventive medicine and other healthy lifestyle behaviors.

PUBLIC HEARING

The State Preventive Health Advisory Committee of the Cabinet for Health Services, Department for Public Health, will hold a public hearing for the purpose of public review and comment on the 2009 Preventive Health and Health Services (PHHS) Block Grant application.  The hearing will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. (EDT) at the Department for Public Health, 275 East Main Street, 2nd Floor Boardroom, Frankfort, Kentucky  40621.  A copy of the block grant application can be obtained by writing or calling the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Branch, Department for Public Health, 275 East Main Street, HS2WE, Frankfort, Kentucky  40621, (502) 564-7996 ext 3866.
