Public Health Preparedness

The Kentucky Department for Public Health serves as the lead agency for Emergency Support Function #8-Public Health and Medical Services (ESF 8).

ESF 8 is responsible for preparing for, responding to and recovering from an emergency or disaster in coordination with local, state and federal partners.

Mission: Kentucky Public Health preparedness enhances the capacity of the Kentucky Department for Public Health, local public health departments and the health care system to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the adverse health effects of public health emergencies and disasters.

Vision: Public Health is prepared. Kentuckians are protected.
