Maternal and Child HealthThe Maternal and Child Health mission is to provide leadership, in partnership with key stakeholders, to improve the physical, socio-emotional health, safety and well-being of the maternal and child health population which includes all of Kentucky's women, infants, children, adolescents and their families.



 

Nutritional Services

Nutritional ServicesThe  Nutritional Services Branch administers the federally funded Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC Program) that provides nutritious foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding information, when appropriate, and referral for intensive care to low-income pregnant and postpartum women, infants and children at nutrition risk.


 

Early Childhood Development

The Early Childhood Development Branch provides active leadership in achieving the health goals of the state’s early childhood initiatives through HANDS (Health Access Nurturing Development Services), Healthy Start in Child Care, Early Childhood Mental Health, First Steps - Kentucky's Early Intervention System, Newborn Metabolic Screening, Genetics,  Adult PKU and KY Birth Surveillance Registry.
