Kentucky Prescription Drug Assistance Program
The Kentucky Prescription Drug Assistance Program helps the public access prescription drug programs offered by the drug manufacturers, discount drug programs and discount pharmacy programs. These programs offer prescription drugs free or at reduced costs for qualifying individuals and/or their families.
The Kentucky program seeks to assist the public by providing easy to use resources to these various programs. We hope you find these resources helpful.

Prescription Assistance Programs (PAPs) are programs offered by various drug manufacturers. These programs vary widely on their income requirements and other related requirements. Generally, individuals work directly with the pharmaceutical company to determine the level of assistance needed. Most programs require written approval from a health care provider.

If you aren't sure who makes your prescription drug, there are several organizations that provide FREE search engines that will tell you who makes the drug, what the PAP requirements are, and some even provide the forms for you.
Rx Assist Assist offers a comprehensive database of patient assistance programs, as well as forms and practical tools, news, and articles for patients who need assistance. Note that Rx Assist does require you to register with them to use the system, but it is totally free.
NeedyMeds NeedyMeds provides both the opportunity to look up traditional assistance programs, but also includes information for access to programs for Medicare Part D recipients.
Partnership for Prescription Assistance Partnership for Prescription Assistance is a national coalition of pharmaceutical companies, doctors and other health care providers, pharmacists, patient advocates and community groups. PPA helps patients to identify what potential assistance programs are available, assess potential eligibility, and obtain enrollment forms.

- Together Rx Prescription Savings Program
This organization partners with drug manufacturers to provide reduced cost drugs. Together Rx provides over 300 brand-name prescription medicines and many generic drugs all at a reduced cost.

Rx OutreachThis program is sponsored by Express Scripts Specialty Distribution Services. The program offers prescription medicines to uninsured individuals and families, as well as those who have limited prescription drug coverage all at a reduced cost.

This program provides discounts on Merck products.
- Pfizer Discount Program
This program provide discounts on 88 Pfizer products.

Pharmacy Discount Programs |

Some stores have discount pharmacy services. For example:
Costco pharmacies have a reduced cost program for members.
CVS-Caremark pharmacies have a joint program with the National Association of Counties (NACO) that offer a Discount Prescription Card that will save you approximately 20% on prescription drugs. No enrollment form, no membership fees. Approximately 110 of Kentucky's Counties participate in this partnership program. Please check NACO To look up if there is a pharmacy near you that participates,
HEB has over 500 generic medications for $5.
Kmart pharmacies have a 90 day generics program for $15.
Kroger pharmacies have $4 generic prescription program (30 day supply). NOTE: Not all Kentucky Krogers may have the program at this time, please check Kroger's website for a zipcode search to see if your Kroger participates.
Meijer pharmacies offer FREE prescriptions on select antibiotics (Amoxicillin, Cephalexin, SMZ-TMP, Ciprofloxacin, Ampicillin, Penicillin VK Erythromycin).
Target pharmacies have a $4 generic prescription program (30 day supply).
Walmart and Sam's Club pharmacies have a $4 prescription program on over 360 drugs (30 day supply)
