Rotunda event kicks off Sexual Assault Awareness Month
The state Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs will host an event to kick off Sexual Assault Awareness Month on Thursday, March 1, starting at 11 a.m. in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort.
The event will feature remarks by CHFS Secretary Mark D. Birdwhistell, recognition of innovative sexual assault prevention and awareness programs and awards presentations.
The late state Sen. Jeff Green of Mayfield is among those being honored for their leadership in efforts to combat sexual assault crimes and help victims.
The University of Kentucky Women’s Place also will present a dramatic performance called “In Our Own Voices.”
