Adoption Blue Ribbon Panel Meeting Scheduled for April 24
FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 20, 2007) – The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ blue ribbon panel on adoption is scheduled to meet next week.
The meeting will be from 1 to 4 p.m. in room 154 of the Capitol Annex on Tuesday, April 24, and is open to the public.
Agenda items include a discussion of activity from the 2007 legislative session, establishment of subgroups to explore the fee structure for guardians ad litem and court appointed counsel, transparency issues and additional supports for families.
The 13-member group has met regularly since last August to review the process and current practices that lead to the termination of parental rights and adoption of children in the state’s child welfare system and to identify opportunities for improvement.
Cabinet Secretary Mark D. Birdwhistell chairs the group.
