Adoption Blue Ribbon Panel Meeting Scheduled for Jan. 7; Group to discuss legislative proposals
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 4, 2008) – The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ Blue Ribbon Panel on Adoption is scheduled to meet next week to discuss prefiled legislation to be considered during the 2008 session of the General Assembly.
The panel will meet from 1-3:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, in Room 169 of the Capitol Annex, Frankfort. The meeting is open to the public.
Agenda items to be discussed include a bill addressing parental rights, filed by panel member Rep. Darryl Owens, D-Louisville; and a bill proposing a paternity registry, filed by Sen. Dick Roeding, R-Lakeside Park.
The group has met regularly for the past year to review the process and current practices that lead to the termination of parental rights and adoption of children in the state’s child welfare system and to identify opportunities for improvement.
