Cabinet for Health and Family Services Names General Counsel Kerry Harvey of Benton Appointed to Post
FRANKFORT, KY (Feb. 25, 2008) – Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary Janie Miller announced today that Kerry B. Harvey, an attorney from Benton, Ky., has been named as the cabinet’s general counsel.
Harvey has been a partner in Owen, Harvey & Carter, a litigation and business law practice, since 1991. He also served as general counsel of Marshall County Hospital for the past 10 years.
His prior experience includes serving as a partner with the law firm of Prince, Harvey, Brien & Carter, also in Benton; an associate with Brown, Todd & Heyburn; and a claims representative with Progressive Casualty Insurance Company. He also served as Marshall County Attorney from 1986-1994.
Harvey previously served as a director with the Baptist Healthcare System and as an administrative board member with Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
Harvey graduated first in his class from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1982 after receiving a bachelor’s degree from Murray State University.
“Kerry Harvey has the experience and expertise necessary to serve us well as we deal with the often complex legal issues of our cabinet,” Miller said.
