Health and Family Services Cabinet
Ceremony to mark reaccreditation of state’s human services program
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 2, 2007) – The public is invited to a ceremony marking the reaccreditation of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ (CHFS) Department for Community Based Services (DCBS).
DCBS – the state’s human services agency – has been reaccredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA). The department was first accredited in 2002.
An award ceremony is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in the Capitol rotunda.
CHFS leadership and staff and COA officials will participate. Community partners and the general public are invited to attend.
The reaccreditation means that DCBS’ child and adult protective services and foster care and adoption programs meet the highest national standards and deliver the best quality services to the community.
COA is an international, independent, not-for-profit, child- and family-service and behavioral health care accrediting organization. Founded in 1977 by the Child Welfare League of America and Family Service America, COA partners with human service organizations worldwide to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying and promoting accreditation standards.
COA accreditation lasts for four years.
