FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 23, 2007) – Golfers of every ability are invited to a charity golf event next month that will benefit Kentucky’s public adoption recruitment efforts.

The Third Annual Kentucky Mulligan Invitational is scheduled for Monday, April 9, at the University of Louisville’s Cardinal Club, at 401 Champions Way, Simpsonville. Former touring professional golfer and author Wally Armstrong will be the keynote speaker.

The Mulligan Society of Kentucky and CBMC are sponsoring the event. The nonprofit groups will use the proceeds to support three adoption programs, including the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ (CHFS) Special Needs Adoption Program (SNAP). SNAP will use its share to recruit more adoptive families.

“Our partnerships with other advocacy groups have made such a difference in recruitment efforts for our adoptive families,” said Mike Grimes, manager of the CHFS’ Adoption Services Branch. “For the past two years, we have used funds raised from the Mulligan event to increase our efforts to find permanent homes for our waiting children. We’re so appreciative of the work that goes into this event.”

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and tee-off is at 12:30 p.m. “Golf School with Wally Armstrong” will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Cost is $200 per two-person team and includes lunch, dinner, 18 holes of golf and a copy of “The Mulligan,” which Armstrong co-authored. Prizes will be awarded for low net and low gross.

The Shining Stars Photo Gallery, a photo collection featuring portraits of foster children in the SNAP program, will be on display at the event, and SNAP staff will be there to answer any adoption questions.
