Thursday’s Child supports the CHFS Special Needs Adoption Program (SNAP) and sponsors several activities for Kentucky’s foster children, including field trips, therapeutic horseback riding, summer camp, holiday parties and athletic opportunities. They also help provide these children with items like senior class pictures and letter jackets.

Thursday’s Child also coordinates adoption recruitment events and works diligently to find forever families for Kentucky's waiting children.

Of the more than 7,000 Kentucky children in state out-of-home care, almost 1,800 children have the goal of adoption. More than 360 of these children are awaiting adoption and have no identified adoptive family.  Nationally, there are 463,000 children in the foster care system and 123,000 of those children are awaiting adoption.

More than 800 children in the state foster care system are waiting for adoptive homes.

For more information about adoption and foster care, call SNAP at (800) 928-4303. Log on to the SNAP home page at http://chfs.ky.gov/snap.
