Adoption Blue Ribbon Panel Meeting Scheduled for Dec. 14
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 11, 2006) – The fourth meeting of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ blue ribbon panel on adoption is this week.
The meeting will be from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in room 171 of the Capitol Annex on Thursday, Dec. 14, and is open to the public.
Thursday’s agenda will include a presentation by State Auditor Crit Luallen. The auditor’s report includes general recommendations for improving the state’s adoption process.
The 12-member group’s goal is to review the process and current practices that lead to the termination of parental rights and adoption of children in the state’s child welfare system and to identify opportunities for improvement.
The group is working toward possible proposed legislation in the 2007 legislative session.
Cabinet Secretary Mark D. Birdwhistell is the group’s chairman.
