Office of the Health Benefit Exchange

On July 17, 2012, an Executive Order (EO) was issued by the Governor, creating the Office of the KHBE within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

The Office of the KHBE operates under the leadership of an Executive Director and is composed of four divisions, including the Division of Health Care Policy Administration, Division of Information Systems, Division of Financial and Operations Administration, and Division of Communication and Outreach.

The KHBE will operate as an online marketplace where Individual Kentuckians and employees of small businesses can comparison shop for health insurance based on cost, benefits and quality. It will also allow individuals and businesses to apply for premium subsidies and tax credits. Through the Exchange, an individual can also apply and have eligibility determined for Medicaid and the Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program (KCHIP).
