Dispenser Reporting Information
Pharmacies and other providers who administer or dispense controlled substances in Kentucky are required to report to KASPER within one business day of the administration or dispensing as provided for under KRS 218A.202 and 902 KAR 55:110.
As previously announced, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services will implement a new KASPER data collection process on March 7, 2017. Pharmacies and other dispensers will no longer report administered or dispensed controlled substance information to Health Information Designs (HID), but will report data directly to a new KASPER Data Collection System. The system will require establishing an account via the cabinet's single sign-on system, Kentucky Online Gateway (KOG), then registering as an uploader in the KASPER Data Collection System. Once registered the secure reporting process will require few changes other than using a new URL for secure data transmission; or using the new KASPER data collection website for direct file uploads or submitting data via the online Prescription Data Entry Form (PDEF). Please refer to the KASPER Controlled Substance Reporting Guide [PDF - 1.76MB] for information on how to register and report data to KASPER. Please note that reporting to HID is required through March 6, 2017. Beginning March 7, 2017 all data must be reported through the KASPER Data Collection System.
