Kentucky National Background Check Program and KARES History

KARES Administrative Regulation

On May 14, 2014, the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Office of Inspector General launched a pilot service allowing fingerprint background checks through the National Background Check Program.  After the successful launch of this program, Governor Steve Beshear signed Regulation 906 KAR 1:190E on November 20, 2015.  This regulation requires certain care providers to complete fingerprint background checks through Kentucky’s National Background Check Program.
