Prescription Behavior Surveillance System

The Prescription Behavior Surveillance System (PBSS) is a public health surveillance and evaluation tool based on de-identified data from state PDMPs and is designed to measure trends in controlled substance prescribing and medical use as well as possible misuse, abuse and diversion. PBSS is supported by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration's Safe Use Initiative in collaboration with the PDMP Center of Excellence at Brandeis University.
