The Office of Policy and Budget provides central review and oversight of budget, contracts, legislation and administrative regulations. The office coordinates, assists and supports program departments and provides independent review and analysis on behalf of the secretary.
OPB consists of two distinct, but interrelated, groups: budget and policy and regulation.
The budget group provides finanacial analysis to Cabinet leadership and works with various Cabinet financial managment groups, the Governor's Office and the Legislative Research Commission Budget Office on budget requests, implementation and oversight.
The policy and regulation group coordinates Cabinet activities related to processing administrative regulations and provides advice to CHFS agencies wishing to submit a regulation. This group also develops, implements and pursues the Cabinet's legislative agenda, including reviewing, evaluating and analyzing all legislation on behalf of the Cabinet.
