Medicaid Advisory Committee

There will soon be three types of groups to advise DMS on the Medicaid program: the Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC), the Beneficiary Advisory Council (BAC), and Technical Advisory Committees (TACs).

  • Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC): In accordance with new federal requirements, the current Advisory Council for Medical Assistance will expand to include representatives from more organizations and more individuals with lived Medicaid experience. The name will change to the Medicaid Advisory Committee but the acronym, MAC, will stay the same. The initial meeting of the Medicaid Advisory Committee will be in September 2025. DMS has finalized the MAC membership type and term lengths for the different positions.
  • Beneficiary Advisory Council (BAC): In accordance with new federal requirements, DMS is also creating a new BAC for current and former Medicaid members and their caregivers and/or family. The BAC is designed to ensure people with lived Medicaid experience have the opportunity to effect Medicaid policy and decision making. The initial meeting of the BAC will be in September 2025. There will be fifteen (15) BAC members. Ten (10) will be current Medicaid members or former Medicaid members and five (5) will be parents, guardians or caregivers of Medicaid members.
  • Technical Advisory Committees (TACs): TACs represent a specific provider type or are individuals representing Medicaid beneficiaries. These meetings will continue as currently scheduled.
If you are interested in applying to the BAC or the MAC, please follow the process outlined below. All applications must be submitted by May 29, 2025
  • BAC: If you are a current or former member, or are a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a member  please use this application. If you need help completing the application or have questions, please contact: DMS.BAC@ky.gov or by calling 502-219-2170.
  • MAC: The process is different for individuals who are consumer advocates and those who would like to be nominated by an association.

If you are interested in either of these positions, please use this application. If you need help completing the application or have questions, please contact: kymactac@ky.gov. The list of all positions may be found here. Advocate Positions.
  • MAC Positions Nominated by Associations: The associations making the nominations are responsible for the application process for their positions. A list of the organizations name and a contact name, and the email for each open position can be found here. Associations.
  • Please reach out to the association directly to initiate the application process.
DMS will let applicants know if they have been selected or not by the end of June. A final list of members will be posted on this landing page no later than July 7, 2025. All terms will have an effective date of July 9, 2025.
