The Health Care Access Branch helps the Kentucky Spinal Cord and Head Injury Research Board administer the Spinal Cord and Head Injury Research Trust Fund.
About the Research Board and Trust
The Kentucky Spinal Cord and Head Injury Research Board manages the Spinal Cord and Head Injury Research Trust Fund. The trust allocates funds from court costs/judicial fines and other sources to support spinal cord and head injury research.
The board meets at least twice each year in addition and serves a management role for a panel of experts in spinal cord injury and head trauma who evaluate grant applications from the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville. The board then awards research grants to the selected applicants each year.
The board reports on funding and research progress to the Legislative Reserach Commission upon request.
