Crime Victims Emergency Examination: Complaint Portal for Payment Violations

The 2024 General Assembly passed SB 319, an ACT related to victims of crime, to include a victim's right to receive services from a licensed healthcare facility (KRS 216B.990), regardless of the ability to pay for such services. In compliance with SB 319, the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Office of Inspector General, has established an online portal for reporting violations of KRS 216B.400, which outlines the rights of a victim of sexual offenses to receive emergency care and treatment for which the examination expenses will be paid by the Crime Victims Compensation Board. The person shall not be denied admission by reason only of his or her inability to pay for services to be rendered by the hospital.
