Cyclosporiasis

Kentucky health officials are investigating causes of cyclospora cases in Kentucky related to a multistate outbreak. Cyclosporiasis, a sickness caused by a tiny parasite called Cyclospora. People can get sick by eating contaminated food or drinking contaminated water. Similar outbreaks have also been reported recently in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.

Measles

In August 2026, health officials confirmed an ongoing outbreak of measles. Multiple cases have been identified in several Kentucky counties.

Ebola

There are no confirmed cases of Ebola in the United States or Kentucky at this time. However, health officials are watching closely after a large outbreak of the Bundibugyo virus, a type of Ebola, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda. They have increased safety measures and are monitoring for any possible cases.
