​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ The Division of Family Support administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program, Kentucky Works Program, Family Alternatives Diversion Program and the Medicaid programs.

The division also manages the Community Services Block Grant, the Nutrition Education Program, the SNAP Nutrition Education Program (formerly known as food stamps), the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program and State Supplementation and particpates in administration of electronic benefit transfer cards and develops policy for all division program areas.


​P-EBT

P-EBT is a food assistance program designed to help families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Students who missed in person school due to a COVID-related absence may be eligible to receive a benefit.  

2022-23 School Year P-EBT  
Each student requesting assistance must start a Pandemic EBT Application.

  • Public and private school students who received free/reduced price meals at school AND who were absent from school one or more days due to COVID may apply for P-EBT for the days missed. The applicant will need the student’s SSID, dates of school days missed for COVID-related reasons between Sept.​​ 1, 2022, through May 11, 2023, and other personally identifying information for the student. 
  • The first week of September, homeschooled students and students who attended school virtually may apply for benefits. The applicant will need the student’s personally identifying information and, if a benefit recipient, the household’s case number. Applicants may also need household financial information to complete the application for homeschooled and virtual students.  

Summer 2023 P-EBT
  • Enrollment is automatic for public and private school students who received free/reduced-price meals during May 2023.
  • SNAP recipients under age 6 (aka Childcare P-EBT), homeschooled and virtual students are not eligible due to the end of the federal Public Health Emergency on May 11, 2023.​
  • Benefits will be issued beginning Nov. 15, 2023.
