The Division of Health Plan Oversight oversees programs and Medicaid partners responsible for the administration and delivery of health coverage for Kentuckians. This division houses the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange (KHBE), known publicly as kynect. KHBE's function is to oversee the Commonwealth's implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Through the Exchange, individuals in Kentucky can determine their eligibility for tax credits and special discounts, shop for health insurance, compare costs and plans, and apply for premium subsidies and tax credits. Individuals can also determine their eligibility for Medicaid and the Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program.
The Division is also responsible for contractual oversight of Managed Care Organizations; provider appeals and complaints; and the administration of Medicaid eligibility and enrollment processes. The division has three branches;
